Originally a New Orleans native, Matt Knight has lived in and learned in a number of tech hubs in our country. During his time in college in Lafayette, LA, Matt felt a calling to do something more with himself. He made the decision to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he performed his job as an intelligence analyst. The mental tools Matt developed around analyzing intelligence and security data transitioned him naturally into his career as an IT professional. After completing his degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette — and even attaining a minor concentration in informatics and systems administration — Matt decided to move to Seattle, WA. His time in Seattle, specifically his time with Iconic Technologies, was pivotal to the trajectory he took to where he is today. After years of strong performance, the board at Iconic Technologies decided to expand into a new territory (Denver) and identified Matt as the key-person to head up the operation. Matt began transition plans, but ultimately Iconic pulled out. Fortunately, it was still true that Denver was lacking the type of honest IT work that we offer, so Matt ultimately proceeded with the transition plans he had in place and opened Koala Networks. As it stands today, Matt oversees Koala Networks’ technical operations, including servicing clients, training all new hires, managing vendor relationships for our company and our clients, taking out the trash and changing light bulbs (and all of the other things you do when you own the company).
Adam and Matt have been knowing each other since grade school. As a matter of fact, one of Adam’s favorite stories to tell is the one about how they became friends in 6th grade. As it often goes with boys, it involved a tussle, a broken bone, and detention and ended with dramatic apology and high fives (after a visit to the doctor, of course). Growing up together, Matt and Adam stayed close over their love for technology and games. Fast forward 15 years later and they are still close friends and now business partners in an industry that they are both completely infatuated with. Initially out of college, though, Adam decided to pursue a career in the wine & spirits industry. What better place than the home of all hedonism, New Orleans, would provide for that opportunity? He earned multiple (now defunct) wine certifications and was working as a beverage director for a large restaurant group in the greater New Orleans area. Unfortunately, as Adam discovered, New Orleans’ brand of hedonism was the true Merriam-Webster version of it and the locals cared less about the joy of the crafted beverage experience and more about the end results. Being done with college, Adam soon after accepted a position in the financial services industry and began a career as a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual. He quickly rose to be a junior partner in their local firm, Varsity Wealth. Although Adam enjoyed many things about his career as a financial advisor, he just couldn’t reconcile feelings of wanting to be involved in a career based on his true passion—technology. After a series of great conversations with his old friend, Matt, the two decided to partner up and grow the company not only in Longmont, but in their home territory as well—the greater New Orleans area. As it stands today, Adam oversees marketing, client relationships, operations management, takes out the trash and cleans the toilets (and all of the other things you do when you own the company).
